The course is designed to address the 2007 National Electric Safety Code (NESC) part 4 requirements.

The course will review signs and tags, fall protection, training, arc hazard assessments and clothing requirements, responsibilities, overhead and underground line operating procedures, minimum approach distances, switching control procedures, working on energized lines and equipment, de-energizing equipment or lines to protect employees, protective grounds, step and touch potentials. Past attendees include managers, superintendents, foreman, line technicians, engineering personnel and persons responsible for supplying equipment or tools which help utility workers meet OSHA requirements. A brief overview will also be given concerning the proposed NESC-2012 standards for the electric utility industry.
