National Electric Safety Code - 2007The 2007 edition of the code requires employers to assess arc hazards and if arc exposures are greater than 2 cal/cm2 to complete an arc hazard assessment by January 1, 2009. Upon completion of the arc hazard assessment, the employer is responsible for requiring employees to wear clothing/clothing systems that have an arc hazard rating not less than the anticipated exposure.
This session will review requirements and give reasonable compliance stratagies for compliance for Part 4 (Rules for the Operation of Electric Lines)of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC)- 2007 code. Upon completion of this course attendees should have a good understanding of arc hazard assessments and clothing and clothing system requirements, overhead line operating procedures, underground line operating procedures, energized conductors or parts, switching control procedures, work on energized lines and equipment, de-energizing equipment or lines to protect employees and protective grounds.
